“rabbit ridge named winery of the year BY CONNOISSEUR’S GUIDE”

“The Winery whose performance with many varieties burned brighter than anyone else across the entire year, and our Winery of the Year, is Rabbit Ridge. Under the practiced oversight of Erich Russell, Rabbit Ridge has proven itself the master of many varieties.”

Dan berger names Erich russell winemaker of the year

“My wine maker of the year makes great wine. It is not usually expensive. And, probably for that reason, Erich Russell, owner of Rabbit Ridge in Sonoma County, gets few accolades fro the press. But the mere fact that he has grown in the last decade from a trivial amount of wine to (thousands) of cases sold without outside funding, without so much as a press kit, indicates that someone likes what Russell is doing.”

1999 American Wine Awards for Zinfandel

While Rabbit Ridge proprietor and winemaker Erich Russell makes several irrefutably excellent Zinfandels that cost up to $35 a bottle, he also pours class and thrift into a single $15 package: the, 1997 Rabbit Ridge Sonoma County Zinfandel. Russell (who was nicknamed Rabbit because of his speed on the high school track team) is also, understandably, one of California’s biggest Zinfandel proponents. And that means reminding hesitant customers that there’s more to life than Cabernet.
